Equi-First Aid USA

Equine First Aid logo

Equi-First Aid USA began in 2007 in Canada, after our founder Heather Davis along with her father and her veterinarian identified the need for horse owners to have the same “first responder skills” for their animals, as humans have for each other through their Red Cross training.

Our materials have been developed by our team of veterinarians and equine professionals, and are taught by our team of independent contractors trained to teach our curriculum. Instructors are required to follow a strict code of ethics, continue their education and regularly renew their certification.

Our courses are recognized for continuing education credits with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), Equine Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), PATH International and more.

Canine Health Canada was founded in 2019 with Feline Health International joining in 2023. All materials are created, reviewed and continuously revised in cooperation with a team of veterinarians and other pet professionals.

The purpose of the courses just like their equine counterparts is to improve animal welfare, teach prevention and first aid response as well as build better owner-veterinarian relationships.

The courses also include a theoretical portion and hands-on practice. Participants receive a comprehensive manual (full day classes) or booklet (half day & children’s classes) and a certificate of completion. Some courses qualify as continuing education for organizations like the IAABC.
